After three years in hiatus, do you see hot movie stills? Shaam is back in a movie that shows him in an eerie get up, eyes swollen and a skimpy body! So what has taken the team of 6 these many days? VZ Durai the director who gave us hits like Mugavaree and a diversified Nepali has put Shaam to test physically as well as mentally in this movie, and one look at the movie will tell you why.

The candles:

The theme of the movie is rather a sensitive one “Child Trafficking” and the depths it takes a lovable father to find his son. By not putting in any unwanted introductions or cheesy scenes the director gets down right into the business of Ram(Shaam) a plain software guy who lives his life to the fullest with his family Lizzy(Poonam) and his son Goutham. All is well, until the kid goes missing in the beach and the trail of events to unearth the mystery of kidnapping goes on and on.

Kudos to Durai yet again for taking up a crisp subject and getting down real hard on its backdrop, the journey of the common man Ram to find his son is rather a catastrophic yet emotional and teary. The trail goes and on with villains just keep pouring in from all directions, physically drained yet mentally resolute, the journey of a determined father amidst the entire trafficking ruckus shows the love of a simple man.

He sets across portions of Andhra, Bhopal, Goa, Mumbai, Kolkota only to find out that each city is a haven of this thriving underground business. Shaam is no more the chocolate boy we know off, his acting has matured to an unparalleled level and in particular the scenes when he is almost on the verge of finding his boy, it really does move us. But that said, the cinematography is very average to have given quite less color to such a hard hitting emotional film.

The initial scenes when Poonam and Shaam run around the beach looking for their lost son, looks very artificial and the dubbing/camera work is averagely done without proper justice to their search. The room for grievance just keeps growing, however what else to expect out of a family that has lost a child!

The first half runs across with some fast paced screenplay, and slows down through the second half when he still is on the hunt. There is room for argument, as when it comes to cinematic experience, with such a film there could’ve been some hard hitting dialogues that gave some justice to this illegal trafficking. However comparing this with reality, there is no scope as a layman could’ve done nothing less. The in-between emotional scenes amidst all the chasing is very touchy and gives us the thump of emotion.

Shaam is like a one-man army taking the burden of the movie on his shoulders and drives it home. This should be the much required break he was waiting for! Rest of the cast is adequate and serves purpose. Durai’s movie making has gone a level higher with this movie, but is jarred by inadequate music composition, below average dubbing and soft dialogues giving it a bit of documentary look. However these are very minor mistakes when compared to the movie as a whole!

When Aarusamy was in town, there was only one goonda, and that had to be the Deputy commissioner of Police himself, the town went clean with joy. So as Duraisingam from the locals arrived, it was nothing but kick-ass to the rowdies of the town and city. Now these are Hari's tailor made Police Officers who respect the Khaki Clad uniform and the people of the city, nothing else... Mind you! Duraisingam is everything you can ask for, aggression unlimited, versatile, lover boy, a respectful citizen and so on, making us want more from him. So eventually Hari & Co bring out a sequel to Singam 2, and the Lion which wandered into the wilderness is now prowling for more. A Prince Pictures presentation and a 2D distribution, with a whale of cast and abundance of technicians who need no introduction, Hari's belief on Duraisingam unveils today.

The Sequel:

Hari is a director known to indulge in some pot boiling commercial film making, and nothing less. The movie shoots off right from where Singam was left off, the die hard Duraisingam avenging his pride, only to be delegated as an Undercover agent to unearth the venal events that take place on the coastline. He moonlights his secret mission by posing as an NCC officer of a school, and yet Hari makes him look powerful.

And as you may have predicted, Hansika is the beautiful damsel whose one sided love story shoots off, and elsewhere is Anushka aka Kavya still waiting for Duraisingam. Trying to squeeze too much in the box, Hari then introduces three antagonists who are armed to kill anyone who interrupts their smuggling. Santhanam is the office boy who plays Pakki giving us jolts of giggles also playing as the sidekick for a while. If Singam had Erimalai's comedy sending us in guffaws, well this time Erimalai's tenure is more of a character role than comic.

Now with all the fiasco in the first half, second half is about Duraisingam's antics in bringing the baddies down to justice including the International smuggler Danny. So what leads up is quite predictable, yet to watch and find out.

Ups & Downs:

Singam 2 is everything you would look for, love, masala, sentiment, raw Action and so on, however adding a slight overdose to every single element mentioned, as a whole it almost topples over. Hari's justification to Duraisingam's character deserves a special mention as yet again this will also be a tribute to the cops, such is the power the role delivers. Suriya carries the octane energy from the first part intact and if the intro scene was viola unleashed, then the scene when he resumes DSP command is MASS undoubtedly.

The movie is all about Duraisingam "The one man army" who is the usual loud and honest. Unlike the first part where Prakash Raj's character had some justice, three villains and none really make a mark according to the script. Hari could've given some more power to the antagonists, to make it look evenly matched. Given the space for baddies, it just adds to the endless list of outwitting and action sequences. Priyan's camera work is pretty laudable for the scenes in South Africa, however back here it's a lot of tilts and zooms.

Another mismatch in the movie comes in the form of the heroines, both loosely fit into the story. Hansika, though is always a treat to watch is abruptly cut short in the second half without proper justice and Anushka's role is not meaty either, making her presence as an extended cameo with songs. Santhanam steals the show with his USP of one liners and witty jokes, however Vivek's character has been sized down. Yet another big crater size hole in this movie is DSP's BGM and music, which does not offer anything new and is monotonous.

Ergo, exiting Singam 2 will send you mixed reactions as the problem with the movie is its overdose of everything stuffed in a bag that overflows. However the intentions of the director are pretty clear, a mass pot boiling commercial cinema that will surely entertain you, if not for its arguable length. Singam 2 will run to packed house for the dude Suriya and Hari's commercial outburst.

Verdict : An overdose of everything, yet watch it for Suriya!

Like it was promoted in the trailers and as true as it really is, every girl child in south India is brought up with the dreams and ultimate goal of marriage. Meera is no exception to the rule. When her parents start outsourcing for the perfect groom, her dreams come into the picture. A bold software professional turned mechanical engineer, Meera develops instant liking to Raghu, as suspiciously arranged by the two sets of parents. But Raghu has to go a long way to actually impress Meera. In the eight months from betrothal to marriage, the hero finally achieves it. So it is a picture perfect dream come true wedding. Only until the couple discover Raghu's sensitive incapability, which comes as a hindrance to the dreamed perfection. Do they manage to keep it a secret? Does the wedding still go through? Is the problem solved? This is what the two hours is about.

While the first half is considerably better entertaining than the second, most part of the movie is like actually being in a wedding house. All the incidents and the probable politics and misunderstandings between the two families and the gossips that go around, have been identified and highlighted in perfection. All eyes on Vijay Sethupathi, the man is a franchise of sorts getting behind the BO comfortably in a barcalounger and sparing no hair in entertaining. The film rides high on his shoulders as the character of Sumar Moonji Kumaru vents out and out fun. Gokul has come up with a fun ridden plot that also conveys a delicate message to the youth and with a horde of cast in the movie; Ashwin, Raja, Robo Shankar, Pasupathi and more, well take a sneak peek.

Ena Matter Balakumara:

After doing roles that creamed up the hearts of the audience, Vijay Sethupathi essays as a nomad dude, the ones you would find on the street wandering carefree and the only thing that crosses his mind is Kumudha(Nanditha) who happens to live nearby. Blending two stories into one is a trend these days and Gokul has taken a page out of the theme, a situation based accident and the result of events unfurling.

Till the first half you'd wonder where the so-called-story is, but all in all a Vijay showdown with his local slangs and a volley of Madras Bashai. Not far away is the lad Ashwin (Mankatha fame) plays the handsome Chennai lad who is in love with Swathi a possessive gal by nature. The way he manages between his boss and a perturbed lover goes down well with the viewers.

The one scene in particular which makes the audience down in splits to quote is when irate father Raja takes up the issue of Kumaru going behind his daughter to the local goon Pasupathi. A series of flashbacks and the quirky return of dialogues are a treat to watch, and Vijay's performance just manages to find the special place in your heart. Watch out for "Kumudha likes", a rib-tickling one liner from Sumar Moonji Kumaru!

Now, how the crux of the story evolves is a spoiler ahead and revealing more would not do justice. A few scenes before the interval, a series of events bring about a change in the plot and the progress gets a little drag, even more on a serious note.

Performance wise Vijay is the top notch hitter with a candy pop performance, a total varied one on every note. His style and mannerism is amazing, this guy can adapt to what the director needs without a doubt. Ashwin plays his part adequately and the man is a charmer, however gives a second hero look. Nanditha has a little edge over Swathi, considering her role is packed with a little more importance. That said, both the heroines fit into their parts neat and just about fine. The rest of the cast: Raja, Pasupathi Soori,,Naan Kadavul Rajendran, MS Baskar and Robo Shankar contribute their share of acting.

Director Gokul has conveyed rather an elusive message through a fun packed movie which through the first half traverses quickly and shrugs in the second. The harmful effect of drinking and aftermath is a simple message conveyed with the help of Madhan's fun filled dialogues. With a bunch of heartwarming moments and sweet touches here and there, Gokul is here to stay. Siddharth's music is another relishing factor, up's the aroma of the entire movie.

On the minus side, the same pace in the first half is missing through the second. Looking at the movie as an overall package, it misses the WOW factor. If comedy and time pass is what you are looking for, then this movie is a sure shot go.

If you want to Tamil Movie Videos... then Dark night, old, abandoned mansion, mysterious turn of events - the stage is set for a perfect thriller. As you grab your tub of popcorn and settle down in the cozy seat with the fear and anxiety of jumping up at scary scenes, the majestic sea-side villa is thrown open. Does the setting live up to the created hype? Let's find out.

Jebin (Ashok Selvan) becomes a writer much against his father's wish, as he discloses in the funeral meeting of his late father (Nassar). However, things don't settle down easy with Jebin, who finds it an ordeal to find the right publisher for his first book. Caught in between debt and dreams, Jebin finds it hard to cope with the reality, when a family friend hands him over the villa which was kept a secret all through his life. In an idea to make ends meet with the profit out of the villa, Jebin heads straight to Puducherry and cleans up the decades old mess, unveiling an antique masterpiece. The house is filled not only with mysterious paintings but also a lot of untold secrets. Jebin calls his girlfriend Aarthi (Sanchita Shetty) to take a look at the beauty and behold the paintings in her very own eyes of an artiste.

Just as the villa comes into his hands, luck turns in Jebin's favour, paving way for hopes to realize all his dreams. Turning point happens when Jebin accidentally finds the map of the villa hidden in a mysterious painting, which leads him to a hidden store room. And what he sees there changes his idea about the villa, as he unearths his father's paintings that detail every crucial detail of his life - the ones that he has come to accept and the ones that haven't occurred yet. Taken aback, he plans to destroy all of it when destiny unveils its true colour, and also that of the villa.

Most of the thrill unveils only in the second half, which narrates the mystery behind the film's title. Though brief, Nassar's presence is one to watch out for shudders. But more than superstition and phantom, the film is a lot of scientific reasoning, which comes as a let down to the expectations created. If you were anxious to catch a glimpse of where SJ Suryah features, you have to sit through the on-the-button story till the nail biting climax, which offers an interesting twist.

Though his presence is terse, Nassar's role plays pivotal to the story. In the couple of scenes that he features, Nassar optimally utilizes his screen space by playing a caring father, strict disciplinarian and a simple yet firm soul, giving you shudders. Ashok has played the role of a distraught son in lauding justification. Expressing how it feels to be a dejected writer and confused individual, Ashok Selvan has gotten himself deeply tied to the character of Jebin and lives it in every scene. And the glamourous gorgeous Sanchita is beautiful to alluring extent. But watch out, her charming innocence can be devious.

For every scary movie, music plays utmost importance to build up fear and give the jitters at the right places. Santhosh Narayanan lives up to the brand name he has created, backing the story with the right amount of pause, boom, silence and bang. While only 'Boomiyil' is pictured completely in the film, even that is in continuation with the story. As was clear from the trailer and teasers, Deepak Kumar Padhy has the knack of presenting visuals true to life in every frame. However, there are a few scenes of CG that leaves our ideas in the lurch.

Deepan Chakravarthy is a creative story teller. Presenting an entirely new concept, with the predominance of science elements, Deepan has narrated a brief entertainer. But when it comes to making you jump from your seat, 'Villa' does not live up to the legacy that 'Pizza' has created. Further, 'Villa' is strictly not a sequel to 'Pizza', and is linked with the latter only on a flimsy strand; the film was promoted to be a sequel, probably to cash in on the lasting achievement of Karthik Subburaj's debut venture.

'Villa' is a posthaste film, wrapping up in under two hours, with no drag or boring sequences. But the story gets deeper, especially towards the climax, which takes a keen eye to grasp the rapid flash of crux instantly. And here's a word to the eager audience - all of us would have watched quite many scary movies, but this is like none of them. Do not head to the screen with prejudice or bias, for 'Villa' is a new bottle with recent wine. Riding high on a lot of facts with a pinch of superstition, 'Villa' is a clear, quick and clean entertainer.
